WE ADDED CONES, SKIPPY HOP FUN POTENTIAL
We added cones to rope off the golf karts. But then we tried walking over them to see what would happen and it turned out to be a fun hop
thing happening. The skip mechanics worked well enough to keep it.
To make the most of it, we've considered adding rocks in our to do list, maybe we can place them throughout the park so you can skip over them in line as you can with cones.
It's uncertain in what way we can lay them out and integrate them without being too obvious but since fun comes
first, we'll keep it and figure it out as we move on.
Originally we wanted to add these in place of the cones but we may append them to the golf karts instead. Or we can place them with metal poles in a certain area.
In general the idea was to have a sign for the golf karts warning players the area is under repair.
IMPROVED METER
In Boiling mode, we improved the meter to show it's close but not quite on target. Still needs work but almost there. In next week's build
we'll improve it further by capping it to the 95% mark so you always know there's a bit more to go.
Special thanks to Kyle Claset for the feedback on this. As a result there's a better read and anticipation with the meter.
We also exaggerated the way it modulates to make it more obvious but may push it further.
ARCHES
Arches were also added for amusement. It was inspired from a story about Shigeru Miaymoto (creator of Mario and Zelda) and how he would add arches to StarFox to make it interesting and give it a sense of direction.
If it's fun in real life, it should be true in a game.
At the moment, they seem flat and uninteresting. But maybe we can put them in a row and alongside each other. I'm not sure yet.
In the future they might get used as signs. They can also act as gates to different sections of the park. We can even use Native American themes and use them as totems.
For now we're keeping them for a variety of interesting reasons. In due time I'm sure they'll fit and play a key role in the game.
At the moment, we're adding them for fun to see what it can do.
STORE CREDITS
There was a request to see credits in the store when selling treasue. This obviously makes sense to fix.
In this week's build it's working!
TREASURE DISCARD: PICK UP WHAT YOU LEFT OFF
Treasure discard works, pick up where you left behind, come back anytime. This was also part of feedback and to be fair, it was broken until now.
You can finally drop whatever item you don't care for and regarldess of where it lands you can pick it up again without waiting to dig.
The metal detector still finds the item for you. Even if it's too small to see, you should still be able to find it.
This way, if your bag is close to full and want to come back later while looking for higher prized finds, now you can!
UNITY SHOWCASE
We’ve updated on Unity’s showcase page. This was another avenue to try and get more player feedback and see how folks feel about it.
While it's not as active as we'd like, so far reviews have been positive.
ASSETS WE USED
Last but not least, we wanted to give a shout out to all the folks who made thier assets available at the store.
Their hard work helped us make a better game and sped up our dev time. If you can, please support them and also
check out their other assets.
