Week 56 - Progression Makes Perfect!


SUMMARY

Hey everyone! This week we'll keep it short and sweet. It has been quite some time since we've made an update. We've been working hard on adding treasures into the game with about 12 remaining to process. It'll be a few more weeks before this is completed and implemented in the game.


But the BIGGEST update is we've improved player progression! The space is divided into 4 zones starting from the Player to the furthest part of the map. We scatter treasure by value and distance. This means the lesser objects, or cheaper ones, will be closer whereas the more valuable ones like gold will be further away. By doing this, we add a better sense of progress and reward effort with time.


The downside is in a rush to get this out for testing, we did throw off balance. Store purchases might be more affordable than intended in the first round of hunting. In future iterations we'll tune it so that bag capacity, shovel rates, shoe speeds, and detector sweeps give bonuses in proportion to one's effort investment. 


For now, we wanted to roll this out because it's REALLY fun to play it this way and we wanted to keep gaining momentum in testing out this new approach. We'd love to hear from you, let us know if you think the new zone system is working or does it need more "umpf"?
