(WEEK 199) SWITCH MODE

Detector Mode

⚙️ Mode Switching + Core Stability Update

Hey Treasure People!

This month there's been work behind the scenes to make the entire game feel smoother and more organized. Big focus this month has been on Mode Switching,  letting players swap seamlessly between Treasure, Backpack, Dig, and Options modes . It’s one of those invisible systems that makes everything work together.

Even with minor bugs, it’s starting to feel  more fluid. If you’ve ever wanted to peek under the hood while the game's core is being wired up, now’s a good time to see how it’s shaping up.

Shovel Mode

What’s New

  • Mode Switching System: play modes activate independently,  nothing runs until it’s meant to.
  • File Optimization: core scripts broken into 490-line modules for easier debugging .
  • UI Tweaks: groundwork laid for gear icons (coming soon) so you can see what’s equipped.
  • Bug cleanup: reduced cross-mode conflicts for smoother transitions.

Backpack Mode

Next Up

  • Finish connecting all four modes — Treasure, Backpack, Dig, and Options,  into one consistent loop.
  • Add gear icons for backpack, shoes, shovel, and detector to make it more immersive.
  • Prep groundwork for upcoming Treasure Store milestone.

Options Mode

Dev Notes

  • This update centralizes the game’s logic so systems don’t overlap,  like  the transmission of a car so the engine runs clean.
  • Breaking files into smaller chunks has made debugging much faster and easier as it grows.
  • The mode switcher is also a step toward cleaner, more modular upgrades for the next phase (crafting, trading, and polishing).

🎯 Next Goal

Complete the mode switch integration, finalize gear icons, and begin setting up The Treasure Store.  (Also get going on save game, a HUGE win for those of you who want to return and pick up where you left off).

💬 Your Turn

Love your feedback, please:

  • How does the new mode switch feel?
  • What icons or visual cues would help most when switching menus?
  • Is it too soon to add audio?
